Photo Mirror privacy policy

Last updated: 23 October 2026

Photo Mirror sends photos and files from your phone to your computer's browser. We do not run a server that receives your photos, and we do not collect, sell or share personal data.

Where your photos and files go

They travel directly from your phone to your browser over an encrypted peer-to-peer connection. They are stored only inside your own browser (extension storage) and stay there until you delete them. We never see them.

Connecting your phone

To set up the direct connection, the phone and your browser exchange small encrypted setup messages through a public relay (ntfy.sh by default). The messages are encrypted with a key that only your phone and your browser know, and that key is never sent to the relay. The relay can see that messages exist and their size, but not their content. A public STUN server may be contacted to find a route between the two devices.

Reading text from photos

When you use "Text from your photos", the photo is processed on your own computer in a hidden frame on this site. It is not uploaded. The first time, your browser downloads the open-source reading engine (tesseract.js) and a language file from public content delivery networks.

What the extension stores

Your photos and files, your settings, and a list of paired phones, all in your browser only. Removing the extension deletes them.

Permissions

storage and unlimitedStorage: keep your photos and files in the browser. notifications: tell you a photo arrived. clipboardWrite: copy a photo or text when you ask. sidePanel: show the app beside your page. Access to ntfy.sh: the connection setup described above.
